Start with these distinctions before comparing a belt, a points total, or a championship title.
Is a belt rank the same as a competition ranking?
No. A belt is part of a promotion system; a competition ranking orders records within a defined organization, category, and period. See the belt guide for the distinction.
Is JiuJitsuRank.com an official governing body?
No. This is an independent editorial resource. We do not award belts, certify instructors, or claim affiliation with the organizations whose records we reference.
Are these rankings live?
No. The tables are dated snapshots with a named publisher and category. Use the source link on the ranking page to check the organizer’s current display.
Does an absent directory entry mean someone is not a black belt?
No. This directory is a limited selection based on public competition records. Absence says nothing about an unlisted practitioner’s rank or credentials.
Does every no-gi competition use the same rules?
No. Check the organizer, event, age group, and experience category. The no-gi guide explains how to organize those questions.
